Archibald is credited with translating the shorter catechism of the Old Testament into the Gaelic in 1650 and between 1659 and 1660 he translated parts of the Bible into Gaelic. He served as heir to his cousin and succeed to Poltalloch in 1642.2

Neill did extensive recontruction at Poltalloch and Duntrune and was much interested in the cutting of the Crinan Canal. At one time he was a "merchant in Jamaica".3

Neill Malcolm, Twelfth Laird of Poltalloch, received arms and supporters from Lord Lyon in 1818, thus becoming recognized as the hereditary chief of the clan.3

Mary Anne was her father's only surviving daughter and heir.3

John was a noted art collector. His collection is now in the British Museum. He began collecting around 1860, eventually acquiring 970 drawings and engravings. Colonel Edward Malcolm was a Royal Engineer who served in India (during the Mutiny), China and Canada.5

Edward raised dogs that became the West Highland White Terrier breed. To quote the AKC history of the breed: "Colonel Edward Donald Malcolm, of Poltalloch, Argyllshire, Scotland, is generally credited with breeding the white dogs true, although he took none of the credit unto himself. He had kept a pack of light colored working terriers for hunting. As the legend goes, a reddish dog of his, emerging from cover, was mistakenly shot for a fox. Malcolm is said to have decided on the spot to breed only for white dogs that could be readily identified in the field."6See West Highland Terrier at the AKC Website for more information on Westies.
