  • Acen Language Centre
    Acen began in 1989 as a project within S4C - the Welsh fourth television channel - to teach Welsh to adults through the "Now You're Talking" series.

    The company motto is "Yn gwasanaethu dysgwyr y Gymraeg" - Serving Welsh learners. It does this mainly by:

    • creating, designing and publishing multi-media materials for schools and adults
    • providing Web services for Welsh language learners
    • providing the 889 teletext subtitles in simplified Welsh for S4C
    • providing tailor-made Welsh language courses for the workplace and running residential courses
    • co-operating with others to create, design and publish information leaflets, pamphlets and reading materials

  • Cymdeithas Madog, the Welsh Studies Institute of North America
    a tax-exempt, non-profit organization dedicated to helping North Americans learn, use and enjoy the Welsh language. It takes its name from Madog ab Owain Gwynedd, a Welsh prince who sailed (according to legend) to America in the 12th century. That makes him a fitting symbol of the cultural and linguistic links which Cymdeithas Madog maintains between Wales and the New World.

    The Welsh Language Board's main aim is to make it easier for everyone to use Welsh, to encourage more people to speak, read or write the language in new situations, and to pass on the language to their children.
