The Gathering 2009

At the end of July, about 50 Clan MacCallum Malcolm Society members and family from the US, Canada, Austrailia and New Zealand traveled to Edinburgh to participate in The Gathering 2009.  We joined about 10,000 others from around the world in celebrating our Scottish Ancestry.  On Saturday morning the sun shone brightly as Prince Charles and his wife welcomed us.  The day was filled with making new friends and visiting the many other dislays and events about the grounds.  The day ended with a march of the Clan up the Royal Mile to Edinburgh Castle.  This was the largest wearing of kilts in Edinburgh since 1744!  At the castle, we were entertained by a pageant celebrating the history of Scotland.  During the weekends events we had over 80 people come to our tent.  During the event, many lasting wonderful memories were formed.  Truly, a once in a life time experience!
